We...Jutta and Frank Brohl, have been cultivating our winery organically since 1983. The winery is located in Pünderich on the Middle Moselle. A small but beautiful village with 800 inhabitants. Depending on the season, work at the winery starts at 8 am and ends at around 4 pm. In winter and spring, the vines are pruned and tied; greening seeds are sown. In the summer months, we are busy with foliage work, mowing and plant protection. In the fall, we harvest the reward for our work and bring the grapes to the cellar.

Dear Woofers! I spend a little more than a month by Frank and Jutta. It was a very interresting time where I learned a lot about wineproduction and how my romantized ideas about the business were false. To be a “Winzer”, as it is called in German, takes a lot of skill and passion. Harvesting the grapes is one thing, but you also have to produce the wine, take care of the plants and market the finished product. All of these different processes were part of my everyday work at the vineyard. It was hard work, but amazing. From tasting the incredible wines Frank produces to hauling heavy boxes of grapes up and down the moutains that encitcles the beautiful Mosel, everything was a learning experience. But it was not all work. Me and Frank participated in the local beerpong tournament, hung out with his friends drinking wine and talking about life and went sightseeing in Trier. I chose Frank’s vineyard to learn about wine and to practice my German. Needless to say, both of these expectations were met in full. Meals were enjoyed in the company of Frank and his wife Jutta, and was a very authentic experience. Frank is like the wine he makes - he only gets better with time and so does the time spent in Pünderich. Don’t miss this great opportunity. - Arthur
