Unser Hof hält 3 Pferde, 2 Eselinnen, 5 Kühe der Rasse Tiroler Grauvieh plus Nachzucht, 100 Milchziegen, 80 Schafe, 30 Hirschkühe mit Nachzucht im Damwildgatter, 500 Legehennen, 50 Schweine und Bienen. Am Hof gibt es eine Käserei, eine Schlachtstätte mit Wurstherstellung, einen Hofladen, eine Hofgastronomie und mehrere Ferienwohnungen. Unsere Hauptbetriebszweige sind die Herstellung von Käse, Wurst, Eiern, Honig, Ziegenmilch- Eis und der Agrartourismus. Wir bewirtschaften 90 ha Grünland und liegen auf 550 Metern Höhe im Mittelgebirge Harz. Ich selbst bin Landwirtschaftsmeister, meine Frau ist Käserin, Gastwirtin, Köchin.

Es waren intensive, interesante, herzliche, gute 4 Wochen bei Kerstin und Kai auf der Ziegenalm. Die Kontkte mit den weiteren WwoffernInnen waren ebenfalls sehr ergiebig und freundschaftlich. Die Einblicke in die Haltung und Fürsorge Ihrer Tiere waren durchgehend gut.

Mit zwei weiteren WWOOFERINNEN war ich 3x täglich für die Versorgung von ca 120 Ziegenlämmer mit Mutterziegenmilch zuständig. Morgens wurde zusätzlich der Stall ausgemistet und neu mit Stroh eingestreut.
Zwischen Frühstücks- und Mittagspause gab es unterschiedliche Aufgaben wie z.B. die Pferde auf die Weide führen und deren Stall ausmisten und Heu auffüllen, den Eselstall ausmisten, Hühnereier einsammeln, Mutterziegen mit Heu versorgen.
Ich bin gut in alle Tätigkeiten eingeführt und begleitet worden, und habe es dann genossen mehr oder weniger selbstständig, jedoch nie alleine, die Aufgaben verrichten zu dürfen.
Es war für mich ein sehr gelungenes erstes WWOOF-Erlebniss! Danke!

I have stayed in this farm in april-may and it was a wonderful experience
Here is a bit what it looked like for me!
In regards to the work: During the day I would feed and take care of the baby and young goats, collect the eggs and prepare them for selling (washing, stamping, and putting them in cartons). I would also give hay to many animals in the farm when needed. I really liked doing these, and I loved that every day was different as well, I would often do various things with anyone who needed it and it was very fun.
In regards to the accomodations:
We were provided breakfast and lunch, and we had ingredients provided to cook diner, I stayed in a 3 people flat with other workers of the farm, we were just besides the farm. Food was very good and easily provided, I don't eat fish and it wasn't a problem at all. We had electrity and everything needed to store and cook our food. For the wifi, it was a bit limited but still there, I would advise buying an e-sim if you plan on using a lot of wifi.
I am from Québec, Canada, so I speak mainly french, but english as well and a bit of german that I learned in school. I developped my german really fast as I was working with other germanophones, in only two weeks, I noticed a significant amelioration.
Kai and Kerstin were very nice and welcoming, Kai picked me up at the train station when I arrived and brought me to the farm.
I recommend this farm a lot!
