unser Hof liegt im Wendland, im nordöstlichen Niedersachsen
BESCHREIBUNG:
Unser Hof liegt im schönen Wendland im Nordosten Niedersachsens. Wir, das sind L., H.C. und unsere zwei Kinder (11 und 8 Jahre). Wir sind ein kleiner Bio-Nebenerwerbsbetrieb mit etwa 20 h Grasland und circa 140 Schafen, wir züchten Leinegänse (eine alte Haustierrasse) und halten ein paar Hühner. Im Hausgarten wächst Gemüse für den eigenen Bedarf. Wir vermarkten Weihnachtsgänse, Schaffleisch, Wolle und Heu. Nebenerwerb heißt, dass L. als Übersetzerin und Lehrerin, H.C als Elektriker arbeitet - neben den Aufgaben auf dem Hof. Wir freuen uns auf Leute, die uns bei den täglichen Arbeiten auf dem Hof unterstützen, die interessiert sind an Tieren und dem Landleben, die sich gern die Hände schmutzig machen und idealerweise offen für alle möglichen Aufgaben sind.
Zur Dauer eines WWOOF-Aufenthalts: Für uns hat sich herausgestellt, dass eine Woche einfach zu kurz ist. Wenn man sich gerade aneinander gewöhnt und sich eingearbeitet hat, steht die Abreise schon wieder an. Auch strengen uns als Familie zu häufige Wechsel an. Daher nehmen wir nur WWOOFerInnen, die mindestens zwei Wochen bleiben können. Im Profil kann man das so aber nicht anklicken, dort steht dann ein Haken bei 1-2 Wochen.
WWOOFen mit Kindern finden wir gut, allerdings sollten die Kinder mindestens 6-7 Jahre alt sein, auch mal einen Schafumtrieb mitlaufen können und ihren Eltern erlauben, sich helfend einzubringen ;-) Ansonsten hat es für uns als Familienhof keinen Sinn...

LOCATION: we are located in the Wendland area in Lower Saxony
DESCRIPTION: About us: We are a family with two boys (8 and 11 years old) and we live in a small village near the little town of Dannenberg in northern Germany. Our home is a big old farmhouse with a pretty big garden, beautiful and with a lot of opportunities. We have chickens, geese and sheep. We grow some vegetables for our own needs. All this means, that there is always plenty of work for any skill level. We both are freelancers, L. works mostly in the home-office H.C works at different sites and is away frequently during the weekdays. Concerning the work hours,there are longer days and days with less work, depending on the project, weather etc. Some things have to be done every day at a certain time, e.g. closing in the animals when it's getting dark, other are more flexible. Some bigger projects will be done on the weekends, so we might ask you to take your days off not on Sunday, but another day. Life on our little farm can be work or pleasure, the borders are sometimes a bit fuzzy. We do think, that work can be hard and still be fun. Don't be afraid: so far we found a good balance for all our guests. We expect you to adapt to our rhythm with getting up not too late and rather fixed mealtimes and coffee/tea breaks. You will have your own room and we can host you the whole year, but spring and summer are nicest. The area where we live is perfect for cycling and we have bikes you can use. The river Elbe is always worth a detour. We also have a canoe, so you can go canoeing on the small river nearby. We are a non-smoker-household, but we don't mind if you smoke, as long as you accept smoking outside. What we require, is a health insurance - luckily nobody ever needed it while staying at our place. Being comfortable with young kids is also a requirement. As WWOOFing is not only about work but also about human interaction, please make sure to write us a personalized message, so that we can get a better picture of the person applying.
